I would like to begin by wishing everyone connected with the football club a very Happy Christmas and prosperous New Year. It has been both a fantastic and successful year for the club.
I would, as always, like to thank our supporters for their backing throughout the year and what a year! Promotion from step five after that scintillating play-off final back in April was testament to all of the hard work put into the club over the past few years. Oh, and of course, the little matter of a Birmingham Senior Cup final against Aston Villa, who’s home advantage in the final tipped the odds into their favour, I jest of course. But what an end to a fantastic season beating Leamington, Birmingham and Solihull Moors along the way. It was, for all connected to this great club, a statement on where we want to be moving forwards. We took over 1,000 fans to Villa park and ended the season with an average gate of over 300, which for step five is just astounding. We have had another record breaking year for season tickets with well over two hundred sold and attendances this season are again over the 300 mark. We have yet to face the big boys like Worcester and Corby who will help to push that average up! As a thanks to our loyal support, the game on Saturday against Boldmere will be free entry to all! Many, many thanks for the continued support!
Thanks to the management team of Scott, Callum, Gary, Anna, Rob, Chris, Paddy and Brenda, and Simon before moving on, for helping to move us forward with exciting football on the pitch and professionalism off of it. This clubs aims are nowhere near achieved yet and with several hundred thousand pounds of investment in 2025 with new changing facilities, classrooms and hospitality and plans for a new 500 seater stand in the pipeline for next season, we will keep moving onwards and upwards.
I wish to thank all of the committee, Ruth, Kevin, Ryan and Phil who do a wonderful job ensuring that we function properly and thanks to our major sponsors for their continued support over the past year. In particular, I would like to thank Church Farm Brewery for the Ground sponsorship and Thomas Flavell for their major sponsorship deal. Thanks to all of the local companies who bought pitch-side boards - we hope to continue partnering with you moving forward.
The club’s Under-18 team, now managed by our academy, have had a fantastic season so far. Sitting in third place in the league and about to embark on two cup quarter finals the future looks bright. I honestly believe that several of these young lads will play for our first team moving forward, three have already featured in the league this season, and it is exciting times for local footballers.
The U19 National League side are mostly made up of first and second year’s so this bodes well over the next 18 months as experience and physicality improves and some of them move into third years. I would like to thank Matt, Kieran, Dylan, Chris, Anna and Harry and Josh for their superb efforts in making ours the best academy around!
As always, I thank all of the coaches and helpers in the junior section who voluntarily give their time to help these young boys and girls to develop both as people and footballers. We have a fantastic Walking Football team for over 55’s who play twice a week and have many partners performing valuable community football and events for all levels and abilities. Mini Racers continues to flourish providing our club and other local clubs with Under 8s players when they graduate. Our partnership with Leamington Lions girls and ladies will give local females a great pathway as the partnership progresses, which is absolutely fantastic.
Finally, and as always, I would like to thank my family and friends for their continued support and allowing me to spend many hours daily growing the club and the future opportunities.
I hope you all can all spend Christmas around your own family in safety and I would like to wish everyone a very happy time over the festive period.
Here’s to another great year ahead!
