Racing Club travelled to Derbyshire looking to end a run of consecutive losses in the league and came away unlucky not to pick up all three points. In a dishevelled first half Racing huffed and puffed but looked low on confidence especially when, after just two minutes, Ben Robinson picked up a flicked on header and slotted home. Racing had given debuts to Tom Smith and Luke Edwards, who went straight in to captain the side in the absence of Scott Turner. Nick Seabourne was unlucky not to snatch an equaliser in a half of few chances when his excellent header was cleared off the line from a Ciaron Houston cross.
Second half saw a Houston shot blocked before Danny Dubidat fired just wide. Tom Smith then powered through after winning the ball in the middle and a fine ball was layed off by Dubidat for Houston who jinked inside before firing cleverly into the bottom corner for the equaliser on 64 minutes.
With Tom Smith and Houston commanding the midfield, Smith almost wrapped up the points for the Racers but his last minute effort was fired just over.
Racing play Long Eaton on Saturday before hosting Tividale on Tuesday evening at Townsend Meadow.
